My name is Jake Rodgers, and I am a senior here at the University of Iowa studying Human Physiology on the Pre-Med track. My hometown is West Des Moines, Iowa. I have always loved science and the study of medicine, which is what drew me to the study of autoimmune disease. I applied for an undergraduate research position in Dr. Karandikar’s lab because I was looking for an opportunity to gain a more detailed understanding of immunology and pathology. I have been in this lab since November of 2017 and am currently involved in research studying the effect of the SNP rs2281808 in the Sirp-Gamma gene on CD4 T-Cells under the supervision of Dr. Sushmita Sinha.
