Education, Training and Research
Born and raised in Grayslake IL by two scientists, it was no surprise that I was drawn into the world of science at a young age. Needing to pave my own way though, I headed out of state to the University of Minnesota for my undergraduate education. There I earned a B.S. in Biochemistry and Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development. Putting Big Ten rivalries aside, I moved to the Hawkeye nation to join the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Immunology. Here I have found a home in the lab of Dr. Nitin Karandikar, where my research interests involve using the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) model to characterize the CD8 T cell response in Multiple Sclerosis (MS), an inflammatory demyelinating autoimmune disease of the central nervous system.
