Aditya Joglekar
I was born in California but lived in India for 12 years before moving to Des Moines, IA during freshman year of high school. At the University of Iowa, I’m majoring in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Human Physiology on the Pre-Med track. In the future, I aspire to attend medical school and pursue clinical research along the way. I have been involved in biomedical research since my first year at the University of Iowa in a Type II Diabetes research lab.
I joined the Karandikar lab in January 2024 to explore a different field of research to learn new techniques and nuances about Multiple Sclerosis. I’ve been working on the human side for the past semester. During this summer, as an OUR Summer Fellow, I will be working on determining the role of interferon-gamma receptor on CD8+ T-cell-mediated suppression and CD4+ T-cell effector resistance using CRISPR/Cas9 knock-out technique. I hope to cherish this opportunity to design, execute, and present an independent project to gain valuable knowledge about the etiology behind Multiple Sclerosis.
